Who we are
Blurt is made by {Company legal name}, {address} (“Blurt”, “we”, “us”). We're the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except for content you store with Blurt Cloud as part of a team, where your organization is the controller and we act as its processor.
What stays on your computer
Unless you turn on a cloud feature, Blurt records audio, transcribes it and writes summaries entirely on your device. That includes recordings, transcripts, notes, your dictionary and your dictation history. We can't access this data, and we don't receive copies of it.

How we use it
We use personal data only to provide and improve Blurt, keep it secure, process payments, respond to you, and meet legal obligations. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligations.
AI and model training
We do not use your content to train AI models, and our contracts with AI and speech providers prohibit them from doing so. Where we use third-party models for cloud features, we use zero-data-retention options where available, so providers don't keep your content after returning a result.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers (“subprocessors”) that help us run Blurt Cloud, under contracts that limit their use of it. The current list, and where each operates, is on our Security page. We'll notify you before adding a new subprocessor. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, and we'll tell you when we're allowed to.
We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep it
- Cloud audio: deleted once processing finishes.
- Synced transcripts and notes: until you delete them or your account.
- Account data: while your account is open, then deleted within 30 days.
- Backups: deleted items leave our backups within 30 days.
- Billing records: as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and California law, you can access, correct, delete, export or restrict your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Most of this is available directly in Settings. For anything else, email [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Recording other people
When you record a meeting, other people's voices and words are captured. Laws on recording differ, and some places, including California, require everyone's consent. You're responsible for telling people and getting any consent the law requires. The consent helper makes this easier.
Security
Data in Blurt Cloud is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Access by our staff is limited, logged and only for support you request or to keep the service secure. Details are on our Security page. To report a vulnerability, email [email protected].
International transfers
We and some subprocessors operate in the United States. When we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards.
Children
Blurt isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make a material change, we'll email account holders and show a notice in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. Previous versions are linked above.
